Kombucha is a fermented, readily bioavailable drink. It is believed to have originated 2000 years ago in China or Japan. We supply a delicious, superior quality home-brewed Kombucha.

Kombucha is naturally fizzy, refreshing & revitalising. I like to call it a functional beverage that claims many health benefits. It is said to be packed with live potent probiotic cultures, organic acids, enzymes & bioavailable vitamin B1, B6, B12 & vitamin C.

These are non-alcoholic drinks containing [healthy] ingredients such as minerals, vitamins, amino acids, dietary fibres, probiotics and added raw fruits.

Kombucha is also absolutely delicious and refreshing. Flavours are based on seasonal fruit and other natural ingredients. Current flavours include:

  • Mango and Litchi
  • Ginger and grape
  • Passion fruit
  • Ginger (My Fav)

Not only is Kombucha delicious, it is claimed to be healthy. Here is why:

The fermentation of Kombucha happens by symbiotic fermentation of sugared tea using a S.C.O.B.Y (naturally occurring symbiotic cultures of beneficial bacteria & yeasts). These cultures digest the caffeine, sugars and tannins in the brew. During the process, each brew is infused with a variety of living bacterial cultures. Also produced are enzymes, natural bioavailable vitamins B & C, antioxidants & acetic acids. It is claimed that these all work together to restore gut health. This could boost your immune system, detox your body, prevent cell damage, guard against inflammation and generally improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Why is the Gut so Important?

80% of the immune system is in the gut! A healthy gut implies a healthy immune system. An informative article from the US National Library of Medicine states:

"The gastrointestinal system plays a central role in immune system homoeostasis. It is the main route of contact with the external environment and is overloaded every day with external stimuli, sometimes dangerous as pathogens (bacteria, protozoa, fungi, viruses) or toxic substances,.....The crucial position of the gastrointestinal system is testified by the huge amount of immune cells that reside within it."

The article states that the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) hold 80% of plasma cells. [Mainly immunoglobulin A (IgA), a primary mechanism in immune response]. GALT reacts depending on the contents in the gut. Allowing either tolerance or elimination.

This is pretty amazing if you think about it. Our gut has this intelligent ability to respond to what we put in it. If what is in our gut is good for us, it increases the absorption capacity. If it is harmful, decreases absorption and mounts an immune response. It will attempt to remove/neutralize the pathogen. In some cases, mounting an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction is really just our bodies informing us that 'this stuff you are eating is NOT GOOD FOR YOU!!'.

In short. The healthier your gut, the better it is able to mount immune responses.

A key potential health benefit of Kombucha. Through healthy bacteria (probiotics) within this delicious drink, gut health could be promoted.

And What About the Colon?

An excellent Mondeor Centre for Integrated Medicine (MCIM) article on Colonic Irrigation states:

A non-functioning large intestine will result in a weakened immune system. A blocked colon (constipation) leads to malnutrition and dehydration. It prevents the absorption of essential B and K vitamins. A colon with waste build up can not absorb water.

A key potential health benefit of Kombucha. Kombucha could help to detox your body and assist with proper hydration.

Healthy Bactaria (Probiotic) - What is That?

MCIM comment that "Bacteria is our planets greatest ally." Only a small amount (less than 3%) cause illness and disease. Mitochondria are found in almost every cell in our body. Mitochondria are responsible for producing our bodies energy. Guess what, Mitochondria are a form of bacteria.

A healthy digestive tract has about 2kg of bacteria. There are approximately 10x more in numbers of bacteria than our bodies have cells.

The more good bacteria you have in your digestive tract:

  • the more beneficial vitamins, amino acids and gasses are released;
  • the stronger your immune system will be;
  • the healthier you will be in general.

A prevalence of good bacteria will dominate disease and inflammation causing bacteria. This will help prevent immune diseases such as:

  • insulin resistance
  • degenerative diseases
  • arthritis
  • and allergies, to name a few.

Using disinfectants, bleaches, sanitizers and antibiotics everywhere, kill the good bacteria needed to keep the bad at bay.

A key potential health benefit of Kombucha. It is claimed that Kombucha is loaded with probiotics (good bacteria). The probiotics made during fermentation are similar to the good bacteria found in your gut.

Serotonin - The Happy Stuff!!

Our gut is where our bodies make most of our serotonin. Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that makes us HAPPY!. Better gut health will literally make you happier. Bring it on!

Kombucha contains vitamins B1 (thiamine), B6 & B12. These are known to help the body fight depression, improve mood and concentration. Kombucha also has vitamin C, which suppresses the release of cortisol, the stress hormone.

Power Up with Natural Energy

Most commercially processed drinks contain large amounts of chemicals, caffeine and sugars. These spike the body and cause immediate lows after the spike.

As Kombucha is fermented. The black tea releases iron, small amounts of caffeine and high levels of B-vitamins. All supplying sustained energy to our bodies. Many people take Kombucha for this very reason.

A key potential benefit of Kombucha. Kombucha could supply much-needed energy and vitality.
